Rhode Island fuses daytime brunching, cocktail-swilling evenings, a thought-provoking programme of cultural events and a whole array of art. We’re working with a panel of local creatives to ensure that the space is just what the area needs: a daytime hub for freelancers, friends and mums to meet, eat and work, and a cosy evening bolt-hole that complements its surroundings.
A spacious ground floor of a former 18th century public house has been kitted out for daytime eating, drinking, thinking & meeting. The interior blends the cosy, pared-down character of the building with layers of mismatch furniture, industrial lighting and custom painted comic strip features on the walls, as well as the constantly evolving exhibitions. It's open, airy, drowning in natural light and the perfect environment for meetings, lunches, an afternoon tea or a quick milkshake!
By day, the space serves as a home-from-home for local creatives often tapping away at their laptops with various (freshly ground) craft coffee flowing from the highly trained Baristas; whilst the kitchen serves up a delicious menu with something for everyone, from early morning 'til late at night.
Homemade granola and locally sourced porridge sit side by side throughout the week, whilst sweet potato pancakes, a fry up to die for, corn bread with grilled peached rule the weekend Brunch menu. Then at lunchtime we switch things up to a menu full of upcycled American-inspired classics, using seasonal ingredients, sourced locally and from sustainable practices, wherever possible. Our signature homemade ‘House Burgers' have yet to leave the menu since we opened in December 2013 and are nestled between healthy salads, tortilla wrap, hot sandwiches and our legendary sliders. Check out the regularly changing ‘Guest Dish' and pop along for a munch very soon!
Rhode Island offers a cultural revolution to Cambridge’s social scene turning the conventional arts institution on its head, fusing boozing with brainpower most weeks of the month through our thought-provoking programme of Thinking & Drinking events.
Our menu of brain-teasing and mind-expanding thought for food includes an ongoing programme of events and social activities in creative arts, music, film, food, drink, design and the odd spot of craft. The line-up is due to include special screenings and cross platform club nights showcasing new creative talent
through to informal evening classes and talks by a host of eclectic and interesting thinkers. At the weekend we are planning to step it up a notch with clubs nights from local and national promoters featuring DJs and musicians. Keep up with what’s going on via our Facebook & Twitter pages, and check out our regularly updated blog!
Our cocktails are simple and well executed with little time spent waiting at the bar, and our spiked [hard] milkshakes help those daytime meetings slide on by. There’s a great selection of local and craft beer alongside our wines, which are simple, well-priced and tasty.
